A little while back I found this project over at kevinnottingham.com and I figured shortly after or leading up to the Prince show at Madison Square Garden I would post it. I did way too much running around yesterday leading up to that great show last night so here it is now. I happen to be a pretty big Prince fan as well…even though that wasn’t always the case. After that show I would completely agree he is one of greatest musicians of our time, and if you think otherwise well then we can’t be friend.
Minneapolis producers Wizz Kidd and G8withtheMuzik (collectively known as The Commission) have teamed up with KevinNottingham.com to deliver a project very close to my heart — an instrumental album based off samples from the Purple One, the Minneapolis Genius, one of the greatest musicians of our time…. Prince. Yes I’m a fan, a very big one… and that’s why when Wizz Kid presented this project to us I jumped on it.
Prince & The Commission consists of 13 instrumental tracks sampling some of the best music Prince has made throughout his career. Tracks like “94 East”, “Lake Minnetonka”, and “First Ave” show that these Minneapolis producers really know how to pay homage to their hometown hero.
